One of the most valuable lessons I learned over 21 years of being a pastor is to learn to laugh. A lot.

Gone are the formers days of me being offended all the time, mad at people who leave the church. Those days are over. People will give me backhanded compliments and now I just say, “Thank you” and not read too much into it.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE OFFENDED BY LITTLE JABS WHEN WE SHOULD BE FOCUSED GIVING THE DEVIL A KNOCKOUT PUNCH.

Life is way too short to be bothered by things that pertain to ego. Be quick to say sorry, be quick to make peace, and be quick to get over stuff.

Offenses can make us cynical to the point where it takes away all our creativity and innovation. It also makes us unattractive in our calling, leadership, and parenting.

I’ve seen many people overcome pain and suffering, yet, brought to their knees by a small offense. Don’t let it happen. These things build up. The only thing we need to build up is momentum to fulfill our calling and that only happens through a spirit that hadn’t been poisoned by a bitter spirit.

Many years ago, a friend gave me a picture of Christ laughing and scripture that spoke of His laughter. I look at it from time to time to remind myself that I am made in His image. The Bible tells us that He lived here as man. Therefore, He laughed! AND SO WILL I.
